Trail System Review - Gurney Lane Lake George NY

Gurney Lane

Great single track. All trails are short, very well marked with trail names and maps. Almost all trails are climb and/or descend. The trails are well maintained. Trails tend to be easy so they are very accessible for all ride levels. There are two main sections lower and upper connected by Excalibur which although a blue trail is the chunkiest. Gurney is a new trail system that has a lot of machine built flow sections.
Must hit trails are Coaster, Salsa, Race Course (down), Rock Buster, E-20 (PBR) and Tango. Recommended route would be to park at the lower lot, climb the left side of Twitter (loop) to Excalibur, then up Erratic. Take a loop around Rock Buster, then down Coaster to; option 1 -Down Salsa and up Surf to get back to the top of Race Course or; option 2 -Down Race Course to Ridge Runner. From Ridge Runner take a lap on PBR and back up the double track for a lap on Tango and then back up again to finish of Ridge Runner. From here you scoot down the road to the lower lot or head back up Surf to loop back around and up Coaster. From here head down Deal With It and back to Excalibur. A great finish is to blast down Tumblr.
On a general scale the riding is easy with limited features on flowy trails. By my estimates there is about 8 miles of total riding.  I have ridden every trail in a single session.  On my rating chart Gurney maintains a middle or the pack rating, check it out to see Gurney relates to other areas. Gurney is the closest riding I have and although its not high on my list I rode Gurney 36 times in 2017 and always had a good time.

  1. Hi,
I was wondering what the rockiest trails at Gurney are. My husband is not a mountain biker and I'd like to avoid them.

    1. Sorry for the delay in response. Avoid Excalibur and Rock Buster. Most everything else is pretty smooth and flowy.
